Recycle

Recycling is a great way to help the Cancer Charity without breaking the bank and all your donations will help us help people living with cancer from our area. Below is a list of ways you can help us through recycling your unwanted items.

Mobile Phones

Mobile Phone

If you get a new mobile please remember you can recycle your old one through the Cancer Charity. We will receive about £5 for each phone. Serviceable ones are sent to be re-commissioned and ones that cannot be used are stripped down and the raw materials are recycled and reused cutting down on landfill space.

Please bring your unwanted phones for recycling to our office at the hospital.

Can you help us increase the number we get by kick starting a collection scheme either through your work place, pub or club? You could combine this with collecting printer cartridges (see below) as well. If you are thinking of doing this and need any help lease contact us and we will gladly give any support you need.

Printer Cartridges

Changing your printer cartridge is one of those irritating but necessary things isn’t it? Why not pass on your old printer cartridges to us and at least take some comfort in knowing that you are making a real difference.

We collect spent printer cartridges in our Charity Office and are able to turn them into cash to help our patients.

Can you help us increase the number we get by kick starting a collection scheme for us in your workplace, pub or club? You could combine this with collecting old mobile phones. If you need any help in getting a scheme up and running please contact us and we will be happy to help.

Our charity Shops

If you have good unwanted clothes and household items please take them along to either of our two charity shops.

Both are privately owned but collect and sell items exclusively on behalf of the Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity.

We are also looking at the possibility of opening a new Cancer Charity shop in Crookes.  If you would be interested in helping us to get this exciting project off the ground please Contact Us.

Door Step Collections

Thanks to volunteers Roy and Karen Haywood from Sheffield we are running a small scale doorstep collection service for clean unwanted clothes and good quality bric-a-brac. You may find that you have a collection bag posted with a covering letter from us, delivered through your letterbox, asking you to leave unwanted items on your doorstep on a certain day. Anything you leave out will be sorted and resold or recycled with the proceeds coming to Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity.

This is run by two dedicated volunteers who have undertaken to ‘give it a go’ on our behalf and we thank them sincerely. It is not run through a big commercial company who cream off the profits. If you do have anyone soliciting to gather items on our behalf, please feel free to give the charity a call to verify their identity. Roy and Karen may be leafleting down your street soon, if so we would be thankful of any good items you no longer want.

Sell on EBay

The Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity is now registered with EBay so should you wish to sell items on our behalf on EBay you can now do so with ease. You just need to select the Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity from the list of registered charities and elect what percentage of the sale price you wish to donate.

All payments are made to us automatically through PayPal. These payments are treated as donations and the gift aid is claimed back and sent to us - so saving the charity any additional administration costs.

From time to time we have calls from supporters wanting to give us second hand items of value to be sold in support of the charity which they feel they don’t want to give to our charity shops. Please can we request that as a first port of call you try and sell the items on EBay in support of the Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity?
