Charity fundraising at the height of fashion!
05/02/2010
Fundraising will be in style in Sheffield when a charity fashion show is hosted in the heart of the city.
The Moor, Sheffield, have organised the ‘Hollywood’ themed show to raise funds for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity.
The event, which will take place at Plug nightclub, will feature clothes from major Moor retailers, including Debenhams, Dorothy Perkins and Atkinsons.
Players from Sheffield United and Sheffield Scimitars will be making guest appearances at the event, for which all clothes have been donated by the retailers.
Sandra Barley, the Moor’s centre liaison manager, said: “After four successful years hosting the fashion show, we are hoping this year’s fifth anniversary event will be bigger and better than ever. Having already raised almost £15,000 for the charity, we want to continue and raise as much as we can for an incredibly worthy cause.
“The fact that all the models are volunteers and the clothes have all been very kindly donated by the Moor stores means that 100 per cent of the money raised will go directly to the charity.
“Everyone is touched by cancer at some point in their lives and Weston Park do fantastic work to ensure patients receive the best possible treatment and care and that their families receive great support.”
Local students from Sheffield College will be taking part in the fashion show and the Hype Dance Company will be putting on a show stopping performance.
Catherine Newman, senior fundraiser at Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, said: “We are delighted that the Moor has once again very kindly decided to donate all the proceeding from the fashion show to the charity.
“The continual support we receive from events like this is invaluable to us, as we rely solely on donations from members of the public. We are very much looking forward to the event and all the glitz and glam it will bring!”
Guests will be treated to a glass of champagne on arrival courtesy of Sainsbury’s, a rose courtesy of Sheffield Markets, food from Moor restaurant Zing Vaa and a goody bag.
The fashion show is taking place on Wednesday 24 February and tickets cost £10. For more information or to book tickets call 0114 249 0290.
