Celebrate & Remember

Giving to charity in lieu of gifts for celebrations is becoming an increasingly popular way to support Weston Park

Hospital Cancer Charity. It might be a birthday, a wedding or an anniversary - the idea is simply to ask friends and family to support the Cancer Charity instead of buying gifts.

This can even be done with an online webpage, which you can set up for FREE!

This allows your guests to make a donation online and at the same time leave a message. You get to see the running total from your celebration along with all the messages your guests have left.

Set up a celebration webpage

If you don't wish to do it online, just ask your guests to contribute by cash or cheque (made payable to Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity).

We will always send a letter of thanks to you showing our appreciation, and this can be passed on to your guests if you wish them to see the total raised.

Give in memory

Losing a loved one is always a difficult experience. Another increasingly popular way to support the Cancer Charity is to honour loved ones who have passed away by making donations in their memory.

This can be a single individual gift, a collection at a funeral, donations in lieu of flowers or through a free remembrance webpage where people can donate online and leave a message.

Set up a free remembrance page

If you wish to send in, or have donations from others sent in, through the post, the address is:

Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity
Whitham Road
Sheffield
S10 2SJ

If possible, please ensure that anyone sending in a donation mentions the name of the person it is in memory of - this is so that we can give you a total amount raised.

If you wish to have a collection or ask for donations in lieu of flowers, your funeral director will usually make the necessary arrangements.

However you choose to give, we understand what a sensitive issue it is and we appreciate you supporting us at such a time. Please be assured that money raised in this way plays an extremely important part in the work of the Cancer Charity and really does have a lasting impact here at Weston Park.

Leave a gift in your will

Why make a will?

To provide for those you love and care about the most and to remember the causes you believe in.

Why leave a gift to Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity in your Will?

Because we support Weston Park Hospital, one of only three dedicated cancer hospitals in the country. Much more than that – the Cancer Research Centre here is internationally recognised, and the Cancer Support Centre offers patients, their families and carers extra help and support in living with cancer.

Types of Gift

A residuary gift allows you to leave Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity a share of your estate, once you have provided for your family.

A pecuniary gift allows you to leave a specific amount of money to Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity.

Saving Tax

Anything you leave to a charity in your will, including Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, is currently free of inheritance tax. These gifts are taken out of your estate before any inheritance tax is worked out, so there may be times when a gift to charity could substantially reduce the tax your estate pays.

You should take expert advice on your individual circumstances so that you can consider the best options available to you.
