Run in the ParkThe 3k Fun Run

The 3k fun run starts and finishes outside the main pavilion, and is 2 laps of a 1.5k route; the terrain is both grass and path surface.
 
The fun run will start promptly at 10:00am - please arrive on time and allow plenty of time for travel and parking.
 
The route will be fully marshalled.

Age restrictions 

Everyone is welcome to take part in the 3k fun run but it is recommended that children under the age of 9 are accompanied by a responsible adult.

Race Numbers

For entries received on or before Thursday 30th June, race numbers will be sent out in the post. For entries received after Thursday 30th June, race numbers will be available to collect at the event information desk on the day.
 
The desk will be open from 08:30am and is situated in the main Pavilion at Graves Park.
 
All race numbers must be worn on the front of the body and must not be cut down or altered (this is a UKA rule).
 
Please complete the details requested on the reverse of your race number. This information is invaluable to medical support staff in an emergency.

The finish

On finishing all participants will receive a commemorative medal and water will also be available.

You are requested to continue moving through the funnel once you have crossed the finish line to avoid obstruction.

Results

The fun run will be manually timed and Results will be available on the charity website from Monday 11th July. 

After the fun run

Fun runners are warmly invited to stay in the park to cheer on the 10k race and enjoy the rest of the day.

Adult fun run entry: £10* (16 years or over)
 
Child fun run entry: £6* (under 16s)
 
*Please note there will be a £2 surcharge for entries taken on the day

The 10k RaceRun in the Park

The main 10k route is two laps of Graves Park, starting and finishing outside the main Pavilion.
 
The race will begin at 11.00am, please leave plenty of time for travel arrangements. This is a slightly undulating course with a multi-surface terrain course of grass, gravel and tarmac.
 
The course will be fully marshalled with distance markers every kilometre. There will be water stations at regular intervals (2.5k, 5k and 7.5k) and at the finish.

Time limit

The 10k race has a time limit of 90 minutes.

Age restrictions

All 10k competitors must be aged 15 or over on the day of the race

The finish

On completing the run each participant will receive a commemorative medal, water and an energy snack.
 
After crossing the finish line, you will be channelled through the funnel where you will receive your goody bag. You should continue until you are clear of the funnel.
 
You will be requested to keep moving to meet up with family and friends and not block the finishing area.

Timing

This is a manually timed race, with no chip timings. For your immediate finishing needs there will be a digital clock situated near the gantry at the finish to record your time.

Results

Results will be available on the Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity website from Monday 11th July 2016.

Training

The Run in the Park 10k Race will require some dedicated training before the event so please prepare accordingly

for the 10k race are as follows:

UKA affiliated runners: £15*

Early Bird: General entry: £16
General entry from 1st March: £18*

*Please note there will be a £2 surcharge for entries taken on the day

 

Event Information

The 3k fun run will start at 10:00am and the main 10k race starts at 11:00am. Please arrive promptly and allow plenty of time for travel and parking.
 
The run starts and finishes outside the main pavilion near the Cobnar Road and Derbyshire Lane entrance of Graves Park. 
 
The event information desk will open on the day of the race from 8:30 and will be based in the main pavilion at Graves Park. Runners who have not already received their race numbers in the post will be able to collect them from the information desk.

• Runners with a race number do not need to register on the day
• Only runners who have not received their race number should attend the information desk on the day

Warm up

There will be an organised warm up on the main grass area outside the pavilion starting at 9:40am before the 3k fun run.

Transport and Parking

First Aid

This will be provided by UK Event Medical and will be based at the Starting/Finishing area. If you start to feel unwell iring the race, slow your pace. Seek advice early from a race marshall or medical staff if you do not improve.
 
If you have a pre-existing medical condition please inform us at the time of entering.

Toilets and changing facilities

These are provided in the Pavilion at Graves Park. Please note that there is no secure baggage area. Participants can leave baggage in changing rooms at their own risk or please leave your personal belongings with a friend or family member who is not taking part.
 

Catering

Caterers will be serving hot food and drinks outside the pavilion

Insurance

Public liability and Third Party Insurance is provided by UK Athletics

The Course

We regret that as the surface is multi-terrain the course is not suitable for wheelchair users.
